Vembu Explorer for Exchange is a utility tool that can restore/export mails, calendar and notes to Exchange server or export to PST files from given EDB file by loading DB files (uncompressed and unencrypted) from BMR or VMware backup.

Points to Remember for Requirements:

  • A service dynamic link library is required to open DB files.

Copy ‘ese.dll’ file from Microsoft Exchange installation location to Vembu Explorer for Exchange location.

  • For Exchange server 2007/2010:

(<Vembu_Explorer_For_Exchange_Installation location>\esecomponents\ex2010).

  • For Exchange Server 2013:

(<Vembu_Explorer_For_Exchange_Installation location>\esecomponents\ex2013).

  • DB file(.edb) created with 64-bit version of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, 2010 and 2013 is only supported.
  • 64-bit Microsoft Outlook 2010 is required.
  • To export mailbox as PST or
  • Restore mails to exchange server.

Start the Vembu Explorer for Exchange application:

  • Initial window.

Download Banner
  • File → select source.
  • Browse and select .edb file.
  • select appropriate Exchange Server Version.

  • All Emails in source is listed.

  • Select required MailBox and open Inbox or Notes.

To Restore emails to Exchange server:

  • File → Open Target/ Create → Open Target Exchange server.
  • Input Server name and MailBox name and hit OK.

  • Emails from target Exchange Server are listed.

  • Drag Emails from Source Inbox to Target.

  • You can view copied Emails in MS Outlook.

To Export emails to PST files:

  • Right click on Target and choose close (Similarly, close source edb file if you want to browse another edb file).

  • File → Open Target /Create → Open target PST.
  • Browse the PST location path in popup window.

  • Select path to restore PST files.
  • Enter filename (A new folder with given name will be created).

  • You will now have the Export PST location in Target.

  • Drag email from Inbox to Target.

  • Open MS Outlook.
  • Go to File → Open
  • Select Open Outlook Data File (.pst File).

  • Select PST location and click OK.

  • A new account Vembu MLR 01 in the MS Outlook with all Exported emails should be visible.
