Our recent webinar on Disk Image Backup was a huge success and in the process it taught us one thing; “If something is done well with the intention of helping your customers by addressing their key issues then there is no room for failure.” The webinar attracted partners, leading MSPs and MSPs interested in what StoreGrid has got to offer. It was conclusive proof that our Disk Image offering is the best in the backup vendor world.
Now if you are someone who attended the webinar I am sure you will be lost in the vast features and awesome lab tests that we demonstrated during the course of the presentation.
I thought a blog post about the key points covered in the webinar would be great.
1. Its gotten 5x Faster now!
This might look like a ‘cliche’ statement and that’s what made us share our lab reports in the webinar. The icing on the cake was when a partner called us up last week and commented about and I quote, “fantastic speeds” StoreGrid is delivering. We are also preparing a comprehensive record of our complete lab test findings and have it documented as ‘the best practices guide’. We will be releasing the guide as an eBook sometime next week. If you would like to be notified about the eBook, please drop a comment below and we will update you.
2. Synthetic Automerge technology
Imagine saving up time and storage space not in small chunks here and there but BIG TIME! Our image consolidation feature rolls up all incrementals and merges it to the full backup. Hence making the process of restore all the more easier.
3. Backup verification
We always knew that backing up data is just half the job done. And also most of our partners were intrigued by the idea of ‘Integrity Check’ of backed up data especially for ones who have a large client base and require frequent backups. So we at Vembu, took the idea and perfected it through our backup verification feature.
4. Easy Instant Restore
In the backup and disaster recovery world, the backed up data is stored in the proprietary format which makes restores all the more complex. But StoreGrid stores all the backed up data in VHD format. A couple of clicks and voila! Your restore will happen in a matter of seconds!
5. File level restore
Partners needed a way to access individual files within a restore point and our file level restore was spot-on for the purpose. Users can now mount disk images and recover individual files like EDB.
Obviously, that’s not it. There are tons of other features in StoreGrid’s Disk image backup. Given a chance, Nagarajan, my colleague who presented the demo yesterday would talk about StoreGrid’s disk image backup for hours!
I hope you keep showing your support by registering for our future webinars and also let us know if you have any suggestions.
Too bad it doesn’t support windows 2012 yet….
Hi Tim,
StoreGrid Disk image plugin has been working flawlessly on Windows 2012 with NTFS file system. Right now, we are working on support for ReFS file system. We will be rolling out our comprehensive disk image support for windows 2012 soon.

Really, because I had a ticket opened with support asking why I could not get the driver installed on 2012 and they told me it was unsupported. I am running windows 2012 with NTFS. Ticket # 20130823011951 if you would like to reply back to me.
Hi Tim,
We just spoke with your account manager and had a discussion about the problem you are facing. Our engineering team pulled off support for NTFS file system just recently. So you should be in touch with our support team soon enough.
