The first four statements are, of course obvious thanks to Hollywood. But what about the last statement? Who wants to see doomsday events causing failures costing an organization a few hundred dollars to several hundred thousand dollars as well as lost revenue, and lost productivity.
StoreGrid Cloud provides everything that you need to make sure all of your important documents are backed up safely. All your files are encrypted to make sure every single file is safe. Another added benefit about StoreGrid Cloud is that you can backup both your physical and virtual environments. Lets see how StoreGrid Cloud 4.4 retrieves your data in case of any catastrophe.
Here’s what you have to do to recover your Cloud backup in-case of any disaster:
Typically, StoreGrid Cloud needs to be installed fresh in a machine in-case of a computer crash or other reasons (old computer stolen, etc).
1. Using the same StoreGrid Cloud ID as before, the backup data can be recovered in the cloud web console. Login with same user name, you need not to do a client registration again.
2. Select: “Restore-> Disaster Recovery”.
3.Once the backup schedules are restored, the List Backup Schedules page will show the backup schedules in a suspended mode. Using the re-installed configuration, any lost data can first be restored (from the List of Backup for Restore page).
Restore Client Configurations (Disaster Recovery)
You will be provided with two recovery options,
1.Local backup.
2.Backup server.
Select the Local backup option, if you wish to recover the backup configurations from a local location. Select the Backup Server option, if you wish to recover all the backup configurations from the Cloud backup server.
For”Local backup” recovery option:
After choosing the above recovery type, multiple backup locations will be listed. Choose the backup storage location drive name where your local backups are stored. Select Restore, agent will start to recover the local backup schedules.
For “Backup Server” recovery option:
Select the option backup server from where backup configurations to be restored from cloud backup server are available. Select the “Restore” Button. This will initiate the process of getting the client backup configurations from all the servers.
Disaster Recovery using Metadata backup:
From StoreGrid Cloud 4.4 you can back up StoreGrids internal database files (sgprp.db). The backed up metadata files can be used to continue incremental backups after client disaster recovery. To know more details click here.
Disaster Recovery Report :
Once the recovery is completed the Disaster Recovery Report will be generated which will have the following details:
Total Number of Backups: Total number of backups available in the backup server.
Number of backups retrieved: Total number of backups successfully retrieved.
Message: Result of the recovery process. Success or Failure.
