Backup Proxy

Backup Proxy

Backup Proxy is an optional component from Vembu which is used to distribute the load on the Backup Server during backups. By default, the backup server takes the role of the backup proxy. You can deploy one or more proxies to optimize the backup performance, run concurrent backups jobs, and distribute the backup workloads.

Steps to install a backup proxy

  1. To deploy a new backup proxy navigate to Infrastructure > Backup proxy in your Vembu BDR Backup server.
  1. Click on Add VMware Proxy and specify the machine name or IP address of the machine where you want to deploy the backup proxy.

  1. Select the administrator credentials of the target machine from the list. If the credential is not available in the list, click on Add Credentials, and create a new credential.
  1. Specify the number of concurrent backup jobs a proxy can process. You can select the number of concurrent backup jobs from 1 to 5 for the proxy you are going to deploy.
  1. Click on Add Proxy. It will start to install the proxy in the target machine.
  2. Once the proxy is deployed on the target machine, you can see all the deployed backup proxies at the ‘Manage VMware Proxy section’.
